Ever since the introduction of the aluminum bat in the 1970's, they have dominated the adult youth and amateur baseball and softball markets. Its no question that a ball comes off an aluminum bat harder then a wooden bat, but are using these bats true baseball? I am a baseball player myself and people have various opinions on this matter. I feel that it does make the game a lot easier and more interesting because its much easier to hit a ball with an aluminum bat then a wooden bat. I think that aluminum bats should be used through all high school and youth baseball leagues. It is much easier and less dangerous to the other players. If you feel otherwise please write a post explaining why, I am interested in other opinions.
In college leagues whether it is division 1, 2 or 3 I feel wooden bats should be mandatory. If you made it this far with baseball you should be able to use a wooden bat correctly. A few differences with a wooden bat is the sweet spot is smaller, you can break it, the ball doesn't go that far, and they are usually heavier than aluminum. If we made it to this stage in baseball we should all be experienced enough to use a wooden bat. I'm just throwing my opinion out there that I feel all youth leagues, and high school leagues should use aluminum because they are rookies and beginners with baseball. All college leagues no matter what division should use wood becuase we have the experience and the next league up(the minor leagues) requires wood. This has been an issue for a while and I feel that something needs to be done about it.
